Upgrading Legacy Security Communications in a Correctional Environment

Challenge
A correctional facility was operating with an aging analog intercom system that relied on a single master station and offered limited flexibility. Officers needed faster emergency communication and clearer call prioritization as the system neared end-of-life. The facility also wanted a scalable, modern solution that could expand over time while staying within budget and reusing existing wiring.
Solution
The facility upgraded to an IP intercom system while maintaining familiar hallway station locations. A 2-wire network adaptor enabled the reuse of existing wiring, helping reduce installation costs and time. Additional master stations were added at guard desks to ensure calls could be answered quickly from multiple points.

In the security center, an intercom application for PC with an interactive map displayed the origin of each call on the map in real time. This helped officers respond faster and provided a scalable platform for future system expansion.

Improving Officer Safety Through Integrated Station Communication

Challenge
A police station frequently faced physical altercations while officers managed detainees in holding areas. Staff needed a dependable way to call for backup in any situation, along with immediate visual context for command personnel. The station also required all emergency calls from hallways and cells to be routed to a central command point to enable faster, coordinated responses.
Solution
Vandal-resistant IP intercoms were installed between cells and at the ends of hallways, mounted at both eye level and near the ground for access in any situation. Emergency calls were routed to multiple master stations in the command center to ensure they were always received. When a call was placed, the related camera view was displayed to give staff immediate visual context.

An interactive facility map also highlighted the exact call location in real time. This improved coordination, shortened response times, and enhanced overall officer safety.
